2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Draw Revealed

The draw for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup was made today with twelve teams divided into three groups of four.

Host, India has been drawn in Group B. Randy Waldrum’s led side will face China, Chinese Taipei, and Iran.
Group B houses Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia while Group C comprises of defending Champions, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
The tournament will hold from January 20 to February 6 in India.
Five automatic tickets to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will be up for grabs at the tournament.

The last edition of the Asian Women’s Cup took place in 2018 with Japan clinching the title after a 1-0 win over Australia.
Kumi Yokoyama scored the winning goal for Japan in the 84th minute.
China defeated Thailand 3-1 to win the third-place match in 2018.
Ying Li, Shanshan Wang, and Duan Song scored for China while Rattikan Thongsombut pulled a goal back for Thailand.
Japan won the 2014 edition with a 1-0 victory over Australia while Australia defeated North Korea 2-1 to clinch the 2010 edition.
