2022 AWCON Qualifiers: Algeria, Ivory Coast Win Big As Nigeria Take Advantage Over Ghana

The first round, first leg games of Morocco 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers kicked off this week as Algeria and Ivory Coast recorded the biggest wins.

Algeria thrashed Sudan 14-0 in the first leg game.
Ivory Coast also earned a 0-9 away win over Niger Republic as Kenya put eight un-replied goals past South Sudan.
Kenya scored four goals each at either half with Neddy Atieno scoring four goals while Jentrix Shikangwa bagged three goals as Mwanahalima Adam scored the other goal.
Banyana Banyana of South Africa pummeled Mozambique 0-7.
Linda Motlhalo and Gabriela Salgado scored two goals while Melinda Kgadiete, Janine Van Wyk, and Noxolo Cesane scored a goal apiece.
Guinea forced Mali to a 2-2 draw.
Binta Diarra and Aissata Traore converted two goals for Mali as Coulouba Sogore and Mabinty Camara scored for Guinea.

One of the biggest football rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana ended 2-0 in favour of the former as Linkopings FC forward, Uchenna Kanu scored two goals for the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Burkina Faso at home pipped Benin Republic 2-1.
The host had to come from a goal down to earn a 2-1 win.
Léa Fachina opened the scoring in the 40th minute for Benin Republic before the second half goal from Charlotte Aïcha Millogo equalised for Burkina Faso in the 48th minute before the winning goal 30 minutes later, Limata Nikiema.
Djibouti walked over Rwanda 3-0 while the likes of Senegal, Congo, Cameroon, Tunisia, Burundi, Namibia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe, and Kenya also recorded wins.
