The 21 year old moved from Borussia Dortmund over the summer to team up with Manchester United for a few of £73 after showing excellently well for the yellow and blacks.

Sancho has since made eight appearances in all all competitions without a goal contribution yet and fans are now losing patience with the Manchester City academy graduate.

With 16 goals and 20 assists in his final season at Dortmund United fans are still waiting to see the kind of performances thy made them cough out so much for a 21 year old.

Sancho was included in Southgate’s squad that was announced during the week with the three Lions coach admitting Sancho’s recent performances have been underwhelming.

Solskjaer has however come out to defend his number 25 asking whether Southgate’s comments were made before their midweek victory over Villarreal where Sancho played 75 minutes.

“Was that interview done before Wednesday night?” he said when Southgate’s comments, made on Thursday afternoon, were put to him.” He said at his press conference before the Everton game.

“Jadon was exceptional, he was electric. The crowd loved him and I think he felt that connection.

“He was direct, positive, he went past the full-back numerous times. Yes, he’s not scored yet but I thought, ‘that’s Jadon and we’re going to see lots of that.”

Mason Greenwood on his part was left out of the squad with Solskjaer this time agreeing with the national team boss on managing the 20 year old well.

“Gareth had a frank conversation with Mason and his family and they know the situation,” he said. “He also knows Mason is really keen on playing for England.

“Gareth is understanding that the boy is only 20 – he turned 20 today [Friday]. He’s going to be a top player for England and for Manchester United but he has to be managed in the right way.

“It gives us a chance to work on his fitness but also to give him a rest because he has been playing in many, many games at a high intensity.”
