Written By Onyeka Daniel
In the last few days, there has been reports of a strong interest from Spanish LaLiga champions, Barcelona for Inter Milan defender, Denzel Dumfries and while the Nerazzurri remain optimistic over their player’s future, the danger might be coming from elsewhere.
More Details
For the Dutch wing-back, the issue of his release clause is now well known and a new suitor has now reportedly joined the race and unlike Barça, they will definitely have no problem paying the quoted figure, if they can convince the player to join them, which has definitely got Inter worried.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, English Premier league side, Manchester City have reportedly sounded out a move for Dumfries after Barça withdrew from the pursuit as they’re reportedly ready to continue with Jules Kounde in that position.
With this new development, the Nerazzurri are now considering the possibility that they could lose the influential player this summer, though they would have preferred to sell him for a higher fee as Dumfries signed a contract extension last year which included a release clause of €25m.
Also, the club is aware that Dumfries is not altogether happy with the harsh words from Lautaro Martinez earlier this week, even though it was revealed that the words were directed towards Hakan Calhanoglu. Then, there is the fact that Dumfries has changed his agent to Jorge Mendes.
That could very well be a signal of intent to leave and given the close relationship between the super agent and the Blaugrana, it is not surprising why his next destination has been rumored to be Catalunya, but Barça have not moved forward in talks for the Dutchman.
Instead, it is another club that has come forward with an interest. According to the reports, Manchester City are also targeting Dumfries. They have already begun inquiring about the 29-year-old and they might probably firm up their interest next week.
That is if Pep Guardiola gives the green light as there is a small window of opportunity to conclude the deal, because his release clause, which will reportedly rise up to about €30m will become invalid after the 15th of July, so time is of essence if they really want to make the move.

Meanwhile, for the Beneamata, they’re now reportedly looking at possible replacement and have now joined the likes of Juventus, Barça and Liverpool in the race to sign wantaway Fiorentina defender Dodo, who would definitely be a like for like replacement.
This is according to a separate report and for the 26-year-old, he would cost a fee of around €25m, same as Dumfries as he reportedly wants out of his current club this summer. The Brazilian has come to the end of his third season at Fiorentina and he feels that he has done all that he can do in Tuscany.

Therefore, Dodo has made no secret of the fact that he is pushing for an exit. There would be no shortage of interest in the former Shakhtar Donetsk man following his excellent form for Fiorentina and now, Inter have joined the race even though they already got Luis Henrique from Marseille.
