The club decided to make changes in their structure after it was officially confirmed that Cristian Giuntoli has left his position as sporting director via mutual agreement, bringing a two-year association with the Bianconeri to an end, following in the footsteps of Motta.
Then they brought in Damien Comolli to act as General Manager Damien Comolli and the former Toulouse president will begin his tenure at the club today, meeting coach Igor Tudor and discussing transfer strategies with Giorgio Chiellini, signifying who is in charge.
The Comolli era begins at Juventus after he was appointed as the Old Lady’s new General Manager on Sunday. At the same time, club legend, Chiellini was promoted to Director of Football Strategy and according to Gazzetta, the new Bianconeri executive will meet Tudor soon.
The Croatian manager will take charge of the team in the Club World Cup as his contract was extended until 2026 after achieving Champions League qualification, and his chances of remaining in charge for the 2025-26 season are increasing, but will also depend on the results during the Club World Cup and his relationship with Comolli.
Comolli will also discuss transfer strategies with Chiellini today and the priorities are players currently on loan at the club, which the club wants to keep for the Club World Cup. Negotiations with PSG for Randal Kolo Muani and Chelsea for Renato Veiga are ongoing.
Also, Francisco Conceiçao is expected to remain with the club, extending his loan from Porto and elsewhere, they remain interested in Jonathan David and have offered the Canada international a €6m-a-year contract plus €2m add-ons until 2030, but Napoli seems to be in the lead currently.
Furthermore, Comolli and Chiellini also need to identify a new sporting director, and the current leading candidates are Frederic Massara and Hasan Salihamidzic, as well as Diego Lopez and Javier Ribalta. Additionally, Matteo Tognozzi may return to the club as a Chief Scout.

In a related development, recent reports in Italy claim that Giuntoli might not be out of work for long following the confirmation of his Juventus departure, as LaLiga outfit Atletico Madrid have expressed an interest in picking up the newly-available sporting director.
Though Giuntoli’s departure was only confirmed on Tuesday, reports on the same evening claim that Atletico Madrid have expressed an ‘openness’ to bringing him on board, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio and further confirmation could arrive in the next few days.
Atleti have been without a sporting director since Italian executive Andrea Berta left the club in order to take up a new job with Premier League side Arsenal. Prior to joining Juventus in 2023, Giuntoli had spent eight years as sporting director of Napoli, which came after a six-year spell in the same role with Carpi.

He also spent one season as technical director of Spezia during the 2008-09 campaign but his most notable achievement is winning the Serie A title with Napoli three years ago and the signing of Victor Osimhen from Lille. Coincidentally, his exit meant that Juve were no longer in pursuit of Osimhen.
