The need for the signing of a new defender can’t be over emphasized enough for former Serie A champions, Inter Milan as they look to replace their aging backline but for the club, the idea is to wait until the end of the current season then they can make their assessments.
More Details
At the moment, the idea is to allow the likes of Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian leave while no decision has been taken on Stefan De Vrij even if he has been linked with a move away from the club this January while the club is hoping that Benjamin Pavard is permanently signed by Marseille.

Consequently, this will leave the club in need of at least two new defenders and while the plan is to make their move in the summer, if the right opportunity presents itself during the winter, they’re also ready to strike as long as it falls within their financial capabilities.
While several names have been linked with them, the top priority at the moment is Sassuolo’s Tarik Muharemovic and now, a new name has emerged with the possibility of making the signing this January if they can play their cards right, but that would mean selling another defender.
According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur center-back Radu Dragusin could make a shocking return to Serie A to join Inter Milan even though he has also been linked with another Serie A club, AS Roma. Speaking to DigiSport, Dragusin’s agent opened up the possibility of a winter transfer to San Siro.
Despite prioritizing the signing of a new wingback, Inter remain on the lookout for defensive reinforcements as they’re desperate to find a suitable replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who could be out until March but the 20-time Italian champions are preparing for a major overhaul at the back.
Acerbi, De Vrij, and Darmian have entered the final year of their contracts with all three expected to leave at the end of the season even if De Vrij could possibly stay. Meanwhile, Dragusin has fallen out of favor in North London since the arrival Thomas Frank who replaced Ange Postecologlu.
The 23-year-old defender has yet to feature for Tottenham this season, increasing the likelihood of an exit this January and Spurs are no longer interested in keeping the former Genoa star at the club as they seems to have found their centre-back pairing with Christian Romero and Micky Van De Ven.
Therefore, Spurs are ready to listen to offers for Dragusin, who could unexpectedly return to Serie A in the coming weeks and his agent, Florin Manea, is working around the clock to secure his client’s immediate departure. “So far, no one has called me. It’s a delicate situation,” Dragusin’s agent said.
“There would be offers, there is interest – also from England, but from a smaller club. Meanwhile, Italy is better; you go to a big club. I haven’t spoken with Chivu. Indeed, I only called him to congratulate him. I know Inter will look for a center-back in the summer. He continued.

“If we decide to play more matches between now and the summer, we’ll announce it, and maybe Chivu will call me too.” He further added. In a related development, according to a separate report from Corriere dello Sport, Atalanta are considering selling Marco Palestra in the January transfer window.
At the moment, it is not clear if the plan is to sell him or keep him in their squad but Inter are among the clubs interested in the promising right-back and would be monitoring the situation close even if it will be a very costly and complicated move for them but they’re undeterred.
Palestra has had an excellent start to the season on loan at Cagliari, but Atalanta could still decide to sell him next month. La Dea need to climb the table and already value Palestra at €35m-40m, according to the report if he can keep up with his current trajectory.
The defender’s sale would allow the Bergamo-based club to bring in reinforcements for new coach Raffaele Palladino and Inter are among the clubs interested in the 20-year-old, but according to the report, Atalanta have been approached by other Italian and foreign clubs as well.
Palestra is on loan at Cagliari until the end of the season, so any early move would need approval from the Sardinians and this is where Marco Brescianini and Daniel Maldini come to play as Cagliari are interested in the Atalanta pair, and their loan to Sardinia in January would partially compensate for Palestra’s possible departure.

In the event that Atalanta decides to keep Palestra, Inter would look to other players and it might as well be another Atalanta player, Raoul Bellanova, a former Inter player who will be hugely affected by the presence of Palestra as they play in the same position
