Written By Onyeka Daniel

There’s a renewed interest from Juventus in Douglas Luiz, after the EPL Club rejected their first proposal, they came back with a second one, a player (Weston McKennie) plus cash, and this was all reportedly rejected, even though the Villans needed to sell a player before the end of this month to help balance their books.

More Details

They are In a position where they need to generate some revenue through player sales due to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations, giving a slight boost to the Bianconeri’s chances of finding an agreement. They have held a new round of talks for Douglas Luiz with Aston Villa and are open to including a second player in a possible deal.

The Bianconeri are planning some sweeping changes in the squad this summer as they prepare to start a new project under Thiago Motta, who has already started to shape up his squad in the Piedmont capital. Juventus have identified Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio and Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori as their priorities for the transfer window.

But are also keen on Douglas Luiz. According to a report from Calciomercato, Juventus and Aston Villa held another round of talks in recent hours to further discuss a possible deal for Douglas Luiz, where the Old Lady made it clear that they’d be happy to include Samuel Iling-Junior alongside Weston McKennie for the Brazilian midfielder.

While the above mentioned reasons are enough to get the Italian giants to try and get a deal done, perhaps there is another more important reason too. According to a separate report from Italy, AC Milan have asked for information about the status of Adrien Rabiot as his Juventus contract nears expiration.

The 29-year-old French midfielder only signed a one-year renewal with the Old Lady last June, worth around €7m net per season. With his current deal set to expire in under three weeks, the club are hard at work trying to agree new terms with his mother-agent Veronique.

Negotiations between Rabiot and Juventus haven’t proved simple and time is starting to run out, but Cristiano Giuntoli will continue to work on a deal. In the meantime, the 29-year-old is preparing for the upcoming European Championship with France, where he’s expected to feature prominently.

A report from Milan News claim that Geoffrey Moncada has requested information about Rabiot ahead of the summer as he looks to add a new midfielder to the Rossoneri squad. Also on his list is Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, who is ready to leave Ligue 1. The midfielder’s mother-agent Veronique is taking her time in talks with Juventus and is looking around for other possible destinations.

Of course, some Premier League clubs also interested. So, while Douglas Luiz could who would take over Manuel Locatelli’s role in Thiago Motta’s system, Koopmeiners will be Rabiot’s replacement, or play alongside him if the former PSG eventually stays. Also, the Rossoneri have also been reported to be interested in Douglas Luiz, while a former Juve player has revealed that it would be difficult to sign both him and Koopmeiners.

Meanwhile…

Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo has reportedly reached a total agreement with Juventus as he pushes for a transfer this summer. The 30-year-old Italian right back quickly made it clear at the end of this season that he believed his cycle at the club had come to an end.

This is because he’s unhappy with the behaviour of president Aurelio De Laurentiis, pushing his agent Mario Giuffredi to publicly state his client’s intentions. Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli quickly emerged for Di Lorenzo, interested in bringing the experienced full back to Turin after their experiences together in the Campania capital.

Some reports have suggested a possible swap deal could be on the cards involving Federico Chiesa. A report from SportItalia has now claimed that Di Lorenzo has already decided to join Juventus this summer and has agreed personal terms with the club, waiting for a deal to be agreed with Napoli.

New Partenopei coach Antonio Conte contacted the 30-year-old to try and convince him to stay, but the player replied that his mind has been made up and that he’s informed the club. A transfer or a renewal is expected to happen after the Euros, where he’s with the Italian national team, hoping to help defend a title that they won four years ago in England.
