For next season, there could be plenty of changes in attack for Serie A side, AC Milan as a number of their players are linked with an exit during the coming summer transfer window.

First on the list is Portuguese forward, Rafeal Leao, with reports that he could be targeted by French club, PSG as a replacement for Real Madrid bound Kylian Mbappe, but so far, the player has continued to pledge his loyalty to the club.

But another player could depart in the summer is French striker Olivier Giroud, who is in talks with LAFC over a potential transfer. According to sources from Italy, talks between clubs and Giroud’s entourage have intensified. There is a possibility that the veteran could spend another season at Milan but it seems likely that he could end up in the MLS, with destinations likely to be New York or Los Angeles.

LAFC also holds Giroud’s discovery rights within MLS, meaning it has priority if he moves to the league. Any other club wishing to sign him will also have to negotiate with the Los Angeles club. The 37-year-old is France’s all-time leading scorer with 56 goals. He has spent the past three years at Milan, who he helped to the Serie A title in 2022.

He has enjoyed another great season in Italy, scoring 12 goals and adding eight assists in 26 Serie A appearances. Giroud has previously enjoyed spells at Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as multiple French clubs.

The club has plenty of roster flexibility heading into the summer, with two designated player spots currently open. For the Rossoneri, they already have the likes of Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic waiting to take over.

While the club could go for a more established striker in the summer, with names like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Jonathan David of Lille, Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon and Joshua Zirkzee.

Meanwhile…

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zirkzee and Sesko are Milan‘s priority targets in attack for 2024-25, but Manchester United and Arsenal are ‘the biggest threats’ to the Rossoneri in the race for the Bologna star.

Milan are expected to sign a new centre forward in the January transfer window and according to the report, Zirkzee is their primary target, followed by RB Leipzig forward Sesko. According to the report, €40m won’t be enough to sign Zirkzee, as Bologna hope to get at least €75m from his sale.

This is the same transfer fee Manchester United paid to sign Rasmus Højlund last summer. However, the Rossoblu hope to keep the promising Dutch forward for one more season at the club if they qualify for the Champions League. Bayern Munich have a €40m buy-back option, but according to Gazzetta, they are unwilling to activate it, yet.

At least not while Harry Kane is still considered the number one striker for the Bavarians. Therefore, the biggest threat to Milan in the race for Zirkzee comes from the Premier League. Manchester United have already opened preliminary talks, while Arsenal’s playing style would suit the striker’s characteristics.
