AC Milan Left In A Tight Spot After Reports Of A Postponed Fixture
Written By Onyeka Daniel
After getting some sort of relief with their first win in the UEFA Champions League, a 3-1 win over Club Brugge, Italian giants, AC Milan were hoping to keep the momentum going with their Serie A fixture this weekend, but it’s looking likely that they would have to skip this round of match due to bad weather condition.
More Details
According to reports, the match between Bologna and Milan this weekend could be postponed as there is still uncertainty over the match, as while the Stadio Dall’Ara is unavailable due to extreme weather conditions, Serie A could still organise it on neutral turf. It was announced this evening that the game cannot go ahead.

This is because the Stadio Dall’Ara is in a ‘critical area’ of the city that will be locked down amid extreme weather warnings by the local authorities. The Emilia-Romagna region and specifically Bologna have been dealing with flash floods due to heavy rain in recent days and there is another storm expected for Saturday.
This is becoming a potential problem for the clubs, because both Bologna and Milan are also in the Champions League and Coppa Italia, so rescheduling is going to be tricky.A solution could come by playing the match this weekend on neutral turf and behind closed doors, as the only other available date is December 18.
The second round of matches of the Coppa Italia round of 16 is scheduled for that day, but both sides will have already played their games in the previous week, and It would especially suit Milan to rearrange for this weekend, because a postponement would mean that Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders bans instead would apply to the big match against Napoli.
The Lega Serie A has still not made a formal announcement on this fixture, despite the local authorities confirming it won’t be played at the Stadio Dall’Ara.This might give them time to rearrange the match elsewhere and some confirmation of the plan is expected tomorrow. The possibility of a postponed match would be detrimental to the Rossoneri.
As it will have a troublesome domino-effect for them, as two key players will miss their next match, which happens to be against a tough opponent. The duo are suspended for Milan’s next fixture, after picking up red cards, but since their Stadio Dall’Ara fixture was called off due to a weather warning, their ban will apply to the Rossoneri’s following Serie A match.

Hence, Paulo Fonseca will be forced to do without Theo Hernandez and Reijnders in a key fixture for their title fight, as the duo will be banned from Milan’s meeting against Antonio Conte’s Napoli, who are the current league leaders. Theo was suspended for two games after getting a red card at Fiorentina for his protests towards referee Luca Pairetto.
For Reijnders, he was sent off in the first half against Udinese after a foul on Sande Lovric. Both were expected to miss Milan’s away trip at Bologna, but the game was officially suspended due to adverse weather conditions on Thursday, meaning their suspension will be valid in the following match against the Partenopei.

Reijnders played arguably his best match of the season with the Rossoneri on Tuesday, when he scored a brace to inspire his side’s first win in the Champions League over Club Brugge, so his absence will be highly felt and Theo has always been an important member of the team, despite his recent disciplinary issues.
