The 49-year-old has emerged as one of the Rossoneri’s leading candidates to replace Pioli in the summer, even ahead of Roberto De Zerbi while Paulo Fonseca remains the alternative should they fail to get Conceicao.
While they were recently advised to make a move for De Zerbi, it looks like the club is moving in another direction, perhaps, they are unwilling to pay the €13m release clause in the former Sassuolo manager’s contract with English Premier League side, Brighton.
Instead, the club have already decided to severe ties with Pioli and will soon figure out the details of his severance pay ahead of the summer. For Pioli, he’s said to be close to joining former champions, Napoli. Conceicao recently penned a new long-term contract with Porto, tying him to the club until 2028.
But despite, that a move to Milan is looking increasingly likely in the summer. According to a report from Tuttosport, Conceicao signed his new contract with the previous Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, a four-year deal worth €3.5m net per season.
The total agreement is worth around €28m total until 2028, figures that don’t convince new president Villas-Boas. The two parties will meet in the coming days to discuss the club’s plans and the financial situation.

Conceicao holds a clause in his contract that would allow him to terminate the deal early, which would then free him up to join Milan, leaving the door open ahead of the summer.
Meanwhile…
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have decided to invest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who could become their most expensive ever signing. They are in need of a new striker, as Olivier Giroud has already decided to leave when his contract expires on June 30 and join Major League Soccer club LAFC.
Several options have been mentioned, but it seems as if they have zeroed in on Slovenia international Sesko. The report seems to suggests that Milan are prepared to invest heavily in the hitman, potentially over €60m. However, that might not be enough.
According to a report from Sky Sports, the release clause in his contract has increased based on performance. It is currently at €65m and could go as high as €75m, as he has already scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 40 competitive games this season. Sesko is young, turning 21 later this month.

And this may be one of the main factors that has made him Milan’s number one target, head of the likes of Jonathan David, Santiago Gimenez, Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Zirkzee, and he has also attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal in the Premier League.
Milan must therefore move fast to get him to accept their proposal, especially before the EURO 2024 tournament, where his appearance with Slovenia could further enhance his profile and increase the competition for his signature. They have a secret weapon on Noah Okafor, who was teammates with Sesko at RB Salzburg.
