The new format will have its draws on August 16, 2024, as announced by the governing body.

32 teams will compete for honours amongst one another for a winner’s prize of 45million Riyals.

Teams that fail to go past the group stage in the Elite Champions League will get 3million Riyals.

However, the final will no longer be a home and away affair as it was in the past but rather a one off game at a yet to be decided venue.


The format for the new Elite Champions League was also explained by the governing body, AFC.

The teams will be grouped geographically (East and West) into two different paths.

Each team will play eight games in the groups stage, four each at home and away from home.

The second round will see a home and away format adopted, with the winner of the tie advancing to the last eight.

The quarter finals and the semi finals will be held in Saudi Arabia using a one off game to decide who progresses, the date set for that is between April 25th and May 4th.
