AFC CL Elite: Jaissle, Firmino Banking On Home Support

Al Ahli are one of the eight teams in the quarter finals of the AFC Champions League Elite.



They’re billed for a date with Buriram United of Thailand on Saturday as both teams play for a place in the last four.

Speaking ahead of the cracker, Coach Mathias Jaissle and captain Roberto Firmino addressed the press on expectations.

The German coach is determined to win as he shared the sentiments of his players while rallying the home fans to come out en masse.

“It’s crystal clear that our approach tomorrow is to win. The expectations are high, and it’s something special to play in Jeddah, our hometown.”

Firmino echoed his boss’ opinion while expressing his joy at returning to playing given he has been omitted from the league squad.

“We have the advantage of playing at home, next to our fans, and I ask them to come and support us as usual.”

“I’m happy to play again, and I look forward to be part of this match and help my teammates in this Asian journey.”

Jaissle will hope the presence of the home support will be enough to spur his side to deliver in the biggest club competition in Asia.

“We can sense how this competition is important to the fans. They are encouraging us to do our best, and we want to give something back to them. I’m sure the atmosphere will be amazing tomorrow.”
