AFCON 2023: Mohamed Salah Says Egypt ‘Very Motivated’ For AFCON Trophy

Egypt winger Mohamed Salah believes his Egyptian teammates are more than motivated to win the 2023 AFCON trophy as they head into their final group game of the AFCON campaign on Monday.

Egypt will face Cape Verde in the third and final Group B match at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny on Monday.
Although the talismanic winger admits that Egypt have been unlucky at the 2023 AFCON tournament, however the Liverpool winger has vehemently made it clear that ‘The Pharaohs’ are hungry and determined to go far in this year’s tournament.
Speaking ahead of their match against Cape Verde, Salah told reporters on Sunday: ‘My injury is still there but the most important thing now is to speak about the game.
‘We’re always proud to wear this jersey, We are very positive, we have great players and a great team, and we just need to fight and see what will happen.’
Salah added: ‘I would love to win it, absolutely. I have won everything possible but this one not yet.
‘It will happen somehow, that is what I believe, and whatever I believe I achieve, so sooner or later it will happen. Everybody knows what it means to any player to win an Africa Cup.
‘We were unlucky at the last one and also in Gabon. The players are very motivated to win the tournament. We all want to win it.
‘At the end of the day we are not doing great at the moment but we have a fantastic team and a great coach, so we just need to stay focused. I believe that with hard work everything is possible, so we just need to win one game to qualify and we go from there.’

Both West African countries lock horns on Monday, Nigeria are poised to qualify for group A, Jose Peseiro’s men still need to better the result of either Ivory coast and Equatorial Guinea to seal top spot.
Speaking alongside coach Baciro Candé, Mane answered questions from the media. Carlos Mane referenced the quality of players in the Nigerian national team, however he has warned Nigeria that Guinea Bissau are going to give their all in Monday’s encounter.
