Surpassing their own expectations, they arrived at the quarterfinals after defeating Equatorial Guinea in the round of 16.

The game against DR Congo tomorrow promises to be an interesting one going by the two team’s style of play and ahead of that, coach Kaba Diawara of Guinea has this to say:

“The squad is very cool, we’ve been able to rest properly after the fatigue that we had after the last game, coach of Guinea said ahead of tomorrow’s clash with DR Congo.”

“We are here to play 7 finals and tomorrow is the 5th and we have to win that game tomorrow and hopefully we go through,” he added.

“We’re going to be as serious as possible as we’ve been since the beginning of the tournament. This is our fifth final like I said before and we hope we get through

“We know what is at stake, we know what we need to do and even if it’s going to be penalty shootout then we’re ready. We’re part of the top 8 and it’s heart-warming to want to go further so, we are not going to be going in being proud but prepared for the game,” the energetic young coach continued.

Asked about the state of Guinea starman, Naby Keita, Kaba Diawara responded:

“He is in a very good shape and as you saw during the last game, he came in with about 30 minutes to go when we needed a goal and we got the goal.”

Speaking ahead of the game, Guinea player Amadou Diawara believes his team has what it takes to get past DR Congo in tomorrow’s game

“The team is pretty well, we’re prepared. We do understand everyone very well during the qualifier and we’re very prepared for tomorrow’s game.”

Tomorrow’s game between DR Congo and Guinea will be the 3rd official meeting between them with the former having an edge with two victories and a draw.
