The Head Coach of Equatorial Guinea’s senior men’s national team, Juan Micha is not letting his side’s 1-1 draw with one of the favourite, Nigeria go into his head as they put up an impressive performance in their opening Group A game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the Stade Alassane Ouattara, Ebimpe, Abidjan.

Not getting carried away by the result, Micha is hoping his team can progress to the latter stage of the competition.
“Our mission is not completed yet,” the former international who has also coached the women’s national team in the capacity of an assiatnt coach told journalist after the game while fielding questions from journalists.
"Playing against a huge team like Nigeria showed that we are just starting our journey. We are in a phase towards the future. We are at the beginning of the phase. I can's give you the result of the future.
"I beleive that this team that I am leading have been preppared on a daily basis to be up to the task. We would have the opportunity." He concluded.
The Nzalanag Nacional will face Guinea Bissau in the Guinea derby with the aim of getting the first win of the campaign on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
