AFCON 2025: Uganda, Tanzania Share Spoils As Group C Remains Wide Open
Uganda and Tanzania played out a 1–1 draw in their Group C encounter on Saturday, a result that keeps the group finely balanced heading into the final round of matches.

The opening half ended without a breakthrough, with both sides cancelling each other out in a tense and tactical first 45 minutes.
The game, however, came to life after the interval as the goals arrived in the second half.
Tanzania struck first in the 59th minute, when experienced winger Simon Msuva calmly converted from the penalty spot to give the Taifa Stars the lead.
Uganda responded late in the game. In the 80th minute, Denis Omedi, who had scored in Uganda’s opening match against Tunisia, turned provider as he set up Uche Ikpeazu, who finished well to restore parity for the Cranes.
Drama followed deep into stoppage time when Uganda were handed a golden opportunity to snatch all three points.
However, Allan Okello failed to convert from the penalty spot in the 91st minute, allowing Tanzania to escape with a share of the points.

After two matches, both Uganda and Tanzania sit on one point, having each lost their opening fixtures to Nigeria and Tunisia respectively.
Attention now turns to the decisive final round of Group C matches on December 30, when Nigeria face Uganda and Tanzania take on Tunisia, fixtures that will determine which teams advance to the Round of 16.
With qualification still up for grabs, Group C promises a thrilling conclusion.
