However, the two top teams in the group met on Saturday and there was no separating them as they settled for a share of the spoils.
The first half saw a goalless affair as both teams tightened things up at the back.
It was DR Congo who would break the deadlock just a minute after the hourmark when Cedric Bakambu put himself in the right place to open the scoring.
However, Senegal didn’t take too long to react as Sadio Mane finished off a Teranga Lions move in the 69th minute to level the tie.
The game would produce no more goals as both teams tried cautiously until the referee ended proceedings.
It leaves both teams on four points after two games, one more than Benin Republic who defeated Botswana in the other group game.

The Squirrels put behind them the opening day loss to DR Congo as they beat Botswana to get back into contention for qualification.
Yohan Roche’s first half goal was enough for Gernot Rohr’s men to secure maximum points on the evening.
Benin Republic will not have to build on their first win when they face favourites Senegal in the last group game.
