The new year has found them dropping points and the general feeling is that they can give the bigger teams a good run for their money in the Scudetto race with a little bit of squad depth as they’re also playing in Europe and Gasperini has made his feelings known, signing a striker at least is a must
Consequently, according to several sources in Italy, Roma are close to reaching an agreement with Giacomo Raspadori after a meeting with the striker’s agent yesterday and he’s probably not going to be the only signing even if they will be forced to concede defeat in their pursuit of another target.
The club director, Frederic Massara, travelled to Milan to hold talks with Raspadori’s representatives and according to Gazzetta, the Italian striker also attended the meeting remotely via video call and Corriere dello Sport adds that Roma increased their offer for Raspadori by €500k to reach a full salary of €4m per season.
The Giallorossi have already reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for a €2.5m six-month loan deal with an option to buy for €19m and according to reports, Roma are now close to reaching an agreement with the Italian striker, even if Napoli remain interested in their former player.
The 25-year-old will probably not be the only arrival this month as the club from the capital city are stepping up their efforts to land Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin as the club is understood to have reopened talks in recent hours with fresh contacts aimed at finding common ground on the structure and figures of a potential deal.
This is according to a separate report from Gianluca Di Marzio who revealed that Dragusin remains high on Roma’s shortlist as they look to reinforce their defensive options for the second half of the season but the operation is not going to be easy as there is plenty of interested clubs, especially in Italy.
The Romanian centre-back only recently returned to Tottenham’s matchday squads at the end of December, following an eleven-month absence caused by a serious cruciate ligament injury and his comeback has naturally prompted interest from clubs monitoring his situation.

Roma are pushing to bring him back to Serie A as he is well known in Italy after spells with Juventus and Genoa, hence, he won’t need much time to adapt to the league and Roma believe his physicality and familiarity with the league would make him a valuable addition.
Discussions are ongoing, with the club trying to understand Tottenham’s stance and the feasibility of a January move as they look to accelerate their market plans and in a related development, the club is reportedly considering keeping Evan Ferguson until the end of the season, but Leon Bailey could already return to Aston Villa.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, keeping Ferguson at the Olimpico until the end of the season is now a real possibility as the path towards their main target, Joshua Zirkzee seems to be blocked at the moment as the recent managerial change at Old Trafford has halted negotiations between the Red Devils and Roma.
According to Gazzetta, Roma recently contacted Brighton to discuss Ferguson’s possible return to the English club during the January window, but the difficulties in getting Zirkzee might well convince Roma to retain Ferguson until the end of the season.

The Irish striker has netted twice and provided one assist in his last three Serie A appearances and for Bailey, he could return to Aston Villa this month as the Jamaican has been struggling with injuries during his time in the capital, and has only played 237 minutes across all competitions.
