Alessandro Bastoni was one of the defenders on parade for the Italian giants and lasted the whole duration of the match.

He was instrumental as he alongside his teammates proved impenetrable for the Barca attack in a game that wasn’t short of controversy.

After the game, the Azzurri defender took to Instagram to post a picture of himself dragging teenage Barcelona midfielder Gavi who himself had a cold game.

That gesture has however provoked the Spanish media who has fired back at Bastoni for his choice of picture.

Sport writes: “Bastoni must have returned to the locker room dried up because the first thing that came to his mind to post was a provocation to Gavi and all the fans when, by the way, Inter mathematically have no confidence in the shift pass. As the great Manolo Preciado said: “When you spit it always falls on you” and, with the return match to be played, we will see if this maxim will also come true with Bastoni”.

Inter travel to Barcelona next week Wednesday for the return leg and already, we expect to see a hostile reception from the Camp Nou crowd especially towards the former Atalanta player.

Meanwhile…

Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana said the team deserved their win over Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Inter ran out 1-0 winners over the Blaugrana in a tensed encounter that witnessed penalty claims and disallowed goals.

Onana made his present felt against his former side as he denied a point blank Ousmane Dembele effort in the second half.

Speaking to SkySports Italia after the game, the Cameroonian stopper expressed his satisfaction and explained the win is all the team needed to get back firing.

I’m happy with the team’s display in a match that wasn’t easy at all,” he continued, “it’s no coincidence that we came out as winners, we deserve it.”

“In football, as in life, there are difficult moments,” the Cameroonian continued.

“Today I’m very happy for everyone,” Onana said, “it was a win that we all wanted.”

“Everyone around Inter wanted to win and overcome this difficult moment.”
