The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) included four England players from the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 squad in its prestigious World XI, underlining England’s growing influence in women’s football at the highest level.
Russo, who enjoyed an exceptional year with Arsenal, is joined in the World Team by her club and international captain Leah Williamson, who recently made her first Arsenal start since featuring in the Euro 2025 final.
Completing the England quartet are Chelsea duo Hannah Hampton and Lucy Bronze.
Hampton, in particular, has enjoyed a career-defining 2025, earning widespread praise and multiple individual accolades following a string of dominant performances for both club and country.
The World Team reflects Europe’s dominance, with five players from Spain and two from Germany completing the XI. Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí headlines the Spanish contingent alongside Mariona Caldentey, Alexia Putellas, Patri Guijarro, and Irene Paredes. Germany and Bayern Munich stars Klara Bühl and Franziska Kett round off the selection.

Michelle Agyemang Named in Women’s Youth World Team
England’s celebration extended beyond the senior category, with Michelle Agyemang named in the IFFHS Women’s Youth (U20) World Team of the Year.
The 19-year-old Arsenal forward, on loan at Brighton currently sidelined with an ACL injury, earned the honour after her decisive contributions during England’s Euro 2025 knockout-stage matches, scoring crucial goals against Sweden and Italy.

Agyemang was selected in a Youth World XI featuring players from seven different nations, highlighting the depth of emerging global talent. Spain’s Vicky López, who won the IFFHS Women’s Best Youth Player award, was also included.
