Ahead if tonight’s semi final match of the UEFA Euro 2024 between England and the Netherlands, Arsenal women’s player Alessia Russo says the women’s team will be backing their men’s counterparts.

More Details

Players of the Lionesses will be watching their men’s counterparts file out in their bid to reach the final of UEFA Euro 2024.

Russo says they have the full support of the women’s side.

“Hopefully players enjoy the tournament. Yeah they have got the full support from us back home,” She stated during a pre match press conference.

The women’s national team will face the Republic of Ireland and Sweden in their next two games at the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euros Qualifiers in few days while wishing their men the best of luck against the Netherlands.

“We are one team. One England.” She continued. “We are backing them all the way just like they would have done with us. We will be watching their game and cheering them on.

“I think they are all very experienced players and they know what it takes to win. Knowing that the Euros is on make us better on the field. I am sure they are doing everything they can to win it.

“We liked to play at our best in every single game but sometimes that is not always possible.”

While the men’s team searches for their first European title, the women’s side broke their trophyless jinx by winning the last Euros ahead of the men.

They also reached the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand but failed to qualify for the Olympics.

The focus now is to qualify for the next Euros in Switzerland from a group that has four teams that made it to the last World Cup; France, Sweden, and the Republic of Ireland.
