The 24-year-old Man City attacker has had two fantastic seasons at the Etihad, scoring 17 goals in the team’s treble-winning 2022/23 campaign and 19 goals in the 2023/24 season.

Just seven Manchester City players played more minutes than the Argentine last season, despite the fact that he mostly covered for Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland.

Haaland has scored an incredible 90 goals in 98 games for City, so it seems unlikely that Alvarez can displace him. There have been rumours that the world cup winner may leave the Etihad in pursuit of regular playing time.

Alvarez said in an ESPN interview, “These are things that are said, but I am calm, I am comfortable and happy at City. We will see what happens.”

Alvarez was also rumoured to have been linked to Paris Saint-Germain, who are trying to find a worthy successor for Kylian Mbappe, who moved to Real Madrid last week.

According to reports, Premier League clubs have approved the introduction of a development plan that will curb spending beginning with the 2025–2026 season.

The spending cap proposals were approved by 16 teams, and their goal is to keep the gap between the Premier League’s lower-half teams and its financial titans from growing.

Nevertheless, a report from BBC Sport claims that three teams vying for European football—Manchester United, Manchester City, and Aston Villa—are thought to have voted against the proposal.
