Following an incident at a Barcelona nightclub in June 2024 during Espanyol’s celebratory events after their promotion to La Liga secured by a 2-0 victory over Real Oviedo in the Segunda play-off final at the RCDE Stadium, Aguado was recently reported to the authorities over sexual assault as per Relevo via El Pais.

The alleged nightclub incident was reported to the Catalan police, prompting the court to initiate a formal investigation into the matter. As part of this investigation, Aguado has been summoned to appear before the court for questioning with his testimony scheduled to be heard in mid-May.
The 28-year-old player has reportedly stated that he “strongly denies having committed any crime.” In response to the situation, Espanyol has released a statement emphasizing the importance of respecting the player’s right to the presumption of innocence. Consequently, it is anticipated that Aguado will remain an active member of the first team squad and available for selection by head coach Manolo Gonzalez in the interim.
This means Aguado will be required to appear before a judge in mid-May in the capacity of a suspect to provide clarity on the events. Judicial sources indicate that both Aguado and the alleged victim have already secured legal representation and are formally listed within the case proceedings.
While the club has publicly urged respect for the presumption of the player’s innocence, sources close to Aguado maintain that he vehemently denies any involvement in the alleged incident. The alleged victim, on the other hand has chosen not to issue any public comments regarding the ongoing investigation.
