Written By Onyeka Daniel
This current international break couldn’t have come at a better time for reigning Serie A champions, Inter Milan as they look to refresh their squad ahead of a run of important fixtures that they will be playing, both in the League and in the UEFA Champions League in the days after the second international break of the season.
More Details
According to reports, Tajon Buchanan and Nicolo Barella are aiming to work their way into full training over the next few days and could become available when the break is over towards the end of the month, so the next couple days will be decisive to see if they can be available for selection against Roma, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter have had a couple players out with injury in their last few matches. Nicolo Barella and Tajon Buchanan. For the 27-year-old midfielder, he picked up a thigh strain during the Nerazzurri’s derby loss against AC Milan, and has missed three matches while recovering. For Buchanan, he is a long-term absentee.
The Canadian suffered a broken leg during the summer. This has meant that he has yet to be available for selection for Inter this season. However, the duo are getting close to recovering. They should be back in full training relatively soon. In the case of Buchanan, the wingback has been recovering for more than three months.
Therefore, there is still some uncertainty about the exact timeline for the Canadian’s return. Buchanan is very close to being ready to make a full return to training. The 25-year-old should be training with the rest of the squad by the end of the international break. However, it is not yet certain whether the former Club Brugge man will be able to be part of the squad after the break.
That will be away to Roma on the 20th of this month. In any event, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will aim to reintroduce Buchanan into the team over the first few matches the team play after the break. After the match against Roma, Inter face Young Boys in the Champions League and then Juventus in Serie A.
For Barella, the former Cagliari player should be able to make a swift return once he has fully recovered. Therefore, he should probably be available or even be a starter against Roma after the break, while Buchanan’s return should be farther down the road, and this would definitely be a source of good news to the club.

In a related development, the Nerazzurri is said to be closely monitoring two players for a free transfer signing in the summer of 2025. According to Italian transfer expert, Matteo Moretto, he revealed that Inter have taken some ‘concrete steps forward’ in pursuing Jonathan David, who won’t extend with Lille, but other clubs are also interested.
According to the report, the 24-year-old has already decided not to extend his expiring contract with Lille. Barcelona and Newcastle are reported to be monitoring the Canada striker, but more Premier League clubs are expected to join the race in the coming weeks. Although available as a free agent, it has been revealed that he will not come cheap.
This is due to his salary requests and agent commissions. But Inter have a clear plan, with Marko Arnautović and Joaquín Correa’s contracts expiring in the summer, they will free up around €20M of budget space. The source further adds that there are currently no ongoing negotiations between David’s entourage and any other club.
He wants to focus fully on his performances with the Ligue 1 side. He has already scored eight goals in 13 Lille appearances this season. Another player that the club is monitoring is Bayer Leverkusen defender, Jonathan Tah, whose contract is also expiring and Inter have a good advantage as he shares the same agent with Benjamin Pavard.

Hence, the club already have a good rapport with him after negotiations for the French defender in the summer transfer window. But they will have to be wary of interest from Bayern Munich. The Bavarians tried to sign the German defender in the last summer transfer window, but Leverkusen held firm despite his expiring contract.
