Last season, Torres, a product of the Villarreal academy, was a mainstay in Villarreal’s defence. However, with one year left on his contract, both parties decided it was time for him to leave.

Aissa Mandi, Raul Albiol, and Jorge Cuenca are left as Villarreal’s central defenders, but it seems like the Yellow Submarine still need at least one more before the transfer window closes.

According to Het Nieuwsblad (via GBDFN), Anderlecht have turned down two bids for center defender Zeno Debast, who is 19 years old. One belonged to Villarreal, and the other to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Following a great season, Debast is believed to be prioritizing game time rather than a ‘big money move’. The Belgian coach Domenico Tedesco, who has already called him up for his debut, is another person he hopes to impress.

It appears that Villarreal will need to persuade the 19-year-old international that he will play a significant role in the team’s setup if they make a move for Debast. Debast’s four caps for the Red Devils are incredibly impressive, despite Belgium’s current central defensive transition.

Tuesday saw the continuation of Villarreal’s outstanding summer transfer window as the yellow submarines unveiled Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth from RB Leipzig.

Sorloth spent the previous two seasons on loan at Real Sociedad, and 2022–2023 was when he really stood out. He led La Real to UCL qualification for the first time in over a decade, the 27-year-old additionally scored 12 goals in La Liga.

This summer, Leipzig has been trying to offload Sorloth, and despite La Real’s desire in acquiring him permanently, Villarreal has stepped in to sign him.
