Thanks to his contributions, San Diego FC secured a spot in the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs and are at the top of the Western Conference standings with 56 points.
In August, Dreyer was a key contributor for San Diego, ranking among the top players in the MLS with five total goal contributions—three goals and two assists.
Notably, he had a hand in the game-winning play in each of the team’s three road victories against Sporting Kansas City, the San Jose Earthquakes, and LAFC. Overall this season, Dreyer leads the league in his debut year with an impressive 32 goal contributions, consisting of 14 goals and 18 assists.
He has either scored or assisted the game-winning goal 13 times. This performance puts him in a tie with Zlatan Ibrahimović for the second-most goal contributions in a debut MLS season, trailing only Sebastian Giovinco’s record of 38.

Dreyer has been named Player of the Month for the second time, having also won the award in June. This makes him only the second player ever to receive multiple Player of the Month honors for an expansion team in their inaugural season, a feat previously accomplished by Josef Martínez with Atlanta United in 2017.
In a record-breaking inaugural season, San Diego FC has secured a playoff spot faster than any other expansion team in MLS history, achieving the feat in just 28 matches after their goalless draw with the Portland Timbers on August 24.
The team have already matched St. Louis CITY SC’s record of 17 wins for an expansion club and is only one point shy of LAFC’s all-time expansion points record of 57. Currently, they are in second place for the Supporters’ Shield, trailing the Philadelphia Union by a single point.
