Amidst interest from top European clubs, Andrei Ratiu has committed his long term future to Rayo Vallecano.
More Details
Rayo Vallecano have tied down one of their biggest asset in Andrei Ratiu to a long term contract renewal with the Madrid based club moving swiftly to deter admirers of luring him away in the summer.
Ratiu arrived back in 2023 from Huesca and he has steadily worked his way into the Rayo Vallecano setup, earning the starting right-back role by the end of the 2024 season. His performances in La Liga last year caught widespread attention, with several clubs monitoring his progress, it helped in no small part by his relatively accessible €25 million release clause.
Villarreal appeared close to securing his signature during the summer. The player was open to the switch, and the Yellow Submarine, who still owned 50% of his rights, hoped to complete the transfer at a reduced cost. However, the move stalled once Rayo decided to purchase the remaining half of his rights for €5 million, giving them full control of his future.

Ratiu continued to attract interest throughout the window, with Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen all making enquiries. Even so, Eintracht Frankfurt were the only club to present a concrete proposal, ultimately emerging as the most serious contender for his services.
The club announced his renewal yesterday via an official statement;
"Andrei Ratiu and Rayo Vallecano de Madrid have reached an agreement to extend the contract that binds both parties until the end of the 2029-30 season.
"Andrei, who joined the Club in the 2023/24 season, has become one of the key players in the first team's sporting successes in these campaigns.
"We 're happy to continue making history together, Andrei!"
