However, the Nerazzurri wrapped up the talks extremely quickly. Then, the 22-year-old travelled to Milan and underwent his medicals, hence, he is already officially an Inter player as he joined his teammates in training today ahead of their first match of the season at home on Monday.

For the player, he said that he “said yes right away” when Inter asked if he wanted to sign from Lens as he gave his first interview as a Nerazzurri player on the club’s official site. It has been something of a whirlwind Diouf proclaimed upon his move that “Inter are a club steeped in history.”

“As soon as I heard the news, I didn’t have to think twice. There was no doubt about choosing this club.” and he added that “It’s an honour to be here. Being an Interista means a lot, and I’m very proud. I can’t wait to step out onto the pitch at the San Siro.”

Meanwhile, he also gave his thoughts on his style of play. “I like playing with the ball at my feet,” he said. “I play with personality.” The Frenchman added that “I like technical moves, and showing what I can do with the ball.”Diouf then commented that “I know that there are highly experienced players in the dressing room.”

“I want to learn from being alongside them and grow along with the entire team.” Diouf also commented that “I’m pleased that there are a number of French players in the squad here. I know Ange-Yoan [Bonny] well,” he noted. “Because we’ve played together for the national team.”

He said that Bonny “spoke highly of the club. It certainly helps when you join a team where you already know some of your teammates.” He further added. In a related development, Cristian Chivu has revealed that there is still “time for signings” before the transfer window closes.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to DAZN in an interview where he also gave his thoughts on the high average age of the Inter defense. It Is now less than two weeks before the transfer window slams shut where they’ve already brought in four new players as Diouf will be Inter’s fourth signing of the summer.

They have already brought in the likes of Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, and Ange-Yoan Bonny. Furthermore, they also brought striker Francesco Pio Esposito back after two seasons out on loan with Spezia to complete their attack, even if they failed in their attempt for Ademola Lookman.

Now, however, there is a big question as to whether or not Inter will make any further reinforcements before the end of the summer transfer window. At the moment, there are rumours that they’re planning to sign a defender and the coach has now revealed that he and the club’s senior management are “on the same page.”

“We have the same thoughts,” he continued. “We’re aware of the players that we need to add to this team. The transfer window is still open and there is still time to make some moves.” However, he insisted that “we don’t want to add quantity – we want to add quality.” He continued.

“We want to bring in players who know how to fit into a group like this, and can also improve the quality of the squad.” Then, the former Parma coach gave his thoughts on the high average age of Inter’s defense. “I never look at a player’s ID card,” he said. “I always look at motivation, passion, the desire to improve every day.”

“Even if they’re thirty but especially if they’re twenty. Because the pitch speaks for itself. The work you put in, the motivation, the discipline and dedication. For me these are the fundamental things. They go beyond the numbers on an ID card.” He concluded.
