During his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, manager Ange Postecoglou gave a team news update for the upcoming encounter against Forest. Tottenham’s injury crisis may force the north London team to play without up to nine additional players.

Giovanni Lo Celso, a midfielder, sustained an injury during this week’s training, and Postecoglou stated that he will miss the game. The nature of the injury was not confirmed by him, but he stated that the Forest game would be too soon for him.

“The only one is Gio, he unfortunately got a bit of a niggle at training,” Postecoglou said. “He won’t be available tomorrow but hopefully it’s not too serious.”

In other news, Tottenham should count themselves fortunate that Cristian Romero, a midfield player, is not suspended for the encounter with Forest. He avoided receiving a red card for a challenge on Callum Wilson during their weekend 4-1 victory over Newcastle.

Asked about that challenge, Postecoglou said: “I thought it was as clumsy as anything else. He knows that. It’s not something for long chats [with him].”

Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.

Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.

This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
