Swedish side, Umeå IK FF has confirmed the acquisition of Anni Miettunen ahead of OBOS Damallsvenskan for the 2022 season.

More Details…

Anni Miettunen most recently played for Åland United in the Finnish women’s league.

Umeå Head coach, Samuel Fagerholm says: “It feels very good to welcome Anni to Umea IK, I know her well since I trained her last year. Her character and willingness to improve is something that affects everyone around her positively. Anni is already a very good player and fullback, it will be fun to see her develop in the Damallsvenskan as well.”

Anni Miettunen told the Club website about her continued football career and move to Umeå.

She said: “I could not be happier than to come to Umeå IK and play in OBOS Damallsvenskan. It has long been my goal to play professional football abroad. Sweden has had a very competitive league for years so it feels like a big step and a challenge for me at this point in my career. I still wanted to not only play abroad but also go to a good club. In Umeå IK, I know that I get just that, a club with a great history and ambition to move forward, strong coaching staff, and skilled players, just what every new player would hope for. I can hardly wait to get to the team and start our journey together in OBOS Damallsvenskan.”

Anni Miettunen, 24, was born and raised in Oulu. She has played at the senior level since 2014, first for ONS Oulu and then for FC Honka, Espoo, in the Finnish women’s league 2017-2019 before joining Åland United for the 2020 season.
