There was no time to relax: after 10 intense minutes, Mauricio Pochettino’s men had already put their foot on the gas and it was from a superb team move on the right that the breakthrough came.

After a run from Angel Di Maria, Idrissa Gueye dribbled past his man before unleashing a rocket into the net. It was a fine tribute to the left-footed efforts of Laurent Robert, who was present at the stadium.

After the opening goal, the Rouge et Bleu continued to give Jonas Omlin something to worry about, as Ander Herrera had the luxury of hitting the crossbar (42′) while Neymar Jr’s long-range effort was saved by the goalkeeper just before the break (46′).

But Julian Draxler showed up,after coming on as a substitute and scored the second goal after a few seconds on the pitch to make it 2-0 for the Parisians, and it stayed like that until the end.

Paris Saint-Germain’s number 11 joined Javier Pastore as the 18th most capped player in the rouge et bleu jersey, making his 269th appearance in all competitions for the club in matchday 8 of Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win over Montpellier at the Parc des Princes.

The Rosario native has become the Argentinian who has played the most matches with the Parisian club’s shirt on his back, on a par with El Flaco (2011-2018).
