Another Slim Win For Inter To Continue The New Year On A Positive Note
It was another win for current Serie A table leaders, Inter Milan today and just like in their previous match, all it took was just one goal for them to secure the maximum points against a stubborn Udinese away from home, but unlike the game against Lecce, this time around, the goal came early.
More Details
Just like the last game, the usual culprit were involved in the goal as an early Lautaro Martinez goal proved enough and gaining revenge over the side that beat them in August and after Francesco Pio Esposito pounced on a rebound from Lautaro for the goal against Lecce, he turned provider for today’s goal.

The Nerazzurri secured their status as Winter Champions winning the rescheduled midweek game over Lecce, but Hakan Calhanoglu, Denzel Dumfries, Josep Martinez, Tomas Palacios and Raffaele Di Gennaro were still injured while the coach also reshuffled his line-up too.
The Friulani, who beat Inter 2-1 at San Siro in Week 2, missed Nicolò Zaniolo, Jordan Zemura and Adam Buksa, so Arthur Atta moved into a more advanced role as they aimed to do the impossible by getting a six point against the former Serie A champions in a season.
The game started in earnest and it was the away side with clear intentions of going for the win as a spectacular Federico Dimarco volley flashed across the face of goal to skim the far post, but after a couple of opportunities with scuffed finishes, Inter broke through finally.
Pio Esposito laid off a Piotr Zielinski through ball for Lautaro Martinez, who got it onto his right boot to drill into the far bottom corner off the outside of the foot from 12 yards and right after that, they continued to press forward for the second goal but were largely unsuccessful
Manuel Akanji nodded a Dimarco corner wide, while Maduka Okoye got down to fingertip a Dimarco daisy-cutter round the base of the upright and then, not to be outdone, the home side had their own chance as Keinan Davis robbed Nicolò Barella to set up Jakub Piotrowski.
The resulting effort managed to sting Yann Sommer’s gloves from the edge of the box, but the same midfielder went off with a knee injury on the stroke of half-time and then it was the turn of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to sting Okoye’s gloves at the near post on a Pio Esposito pass after Thomas Kristensen gave it away.
Right after, Dimarco had the ball in the net but Esposito had wandered offside on the assist and the goal was ruled out before Carlos Augusto made a sensational sliding tackle to stop Keinan Davis on the counter, but was booked by the referee, with Udinese feeling if it was a foul then it should’ve been a red card.
It remained only 1-0 and the hosts threw on more attacking players, Francesco Acerbi charging down the Idrissa Gueye volley from a corner and Akanji preventing a cross reaching Davis to nod in from six yards, but in the end, the visitors held for their second consecutive win after the draw against Napoli.

In a related development, the club’s American owners, Oaktree Capital Management are preparing for a decisive summer transfer window after months of criticism surrounding their strategy and according to L’Interista, Oaktree representatives will soon meet with Inter’s senior management to define plans for the end of the season.
The goal is clear, they want to raise the squad’s level and avoid another season that falls short of its biggest objectives. Oaktree intend to continue investing in young players with long-term values but this time around, the plan also includes experienced figures who can help those players settle quickly.
Recent recruitment delivered limited immediate impact, which has increased pressure on the club to act more decisively and in recent times, several realistic targets have already entered internal discussions but no clear indication on which player they will eventually go for.
These include Bernardo Silva, Manu Koné, Nico Paz, Guglielmo Vicario and Pietro Comuzzo, alongside easier options such as Aleksandar Stankovic. Some deals appear viable due to contract situations or previous contact with the club and they’ve also discussed more ambitious profiles.
While not every option is realistic, the intention is clear, Oaktree want a proactive summer and the aim iscto strengthen the squad, increase its appeal and re-establish Inter as a genuine force at the highest level. Furthermore, a new report has emerged that the club was in the running for Spanish forward, Nico Williams.

The Athletic Bilbao forward was said to be on his way out of the Basque club in the last summer transfer window while the duo of Barcelona and Arsenal were said to be interested, especially the Catalans who were very much open in their pursuit but the player eventually stayed and signed a new contract with his club.
