Antônio Carlos, a 32-year-old Brazilian defender, has joined Houston Dynamo FC on a free transfer. His contract with Houston Dynamo runs through 2026.

Carlos previously played four seasons with Orlando City, where he scored four goals in 105 appearances and helped them win the 2022 US Open Cup.

He was transferred from Orlando City to Fluminense FC in December 2023, making 33 appearances for the Brazilian club. Most recently, he spent the 2025 season on loan with Sport Club do Recife.
“Antônio is a proven winner, with a track record of lifting trophies and regularly making the playoffs in Major League Soccer,” said Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad.
“His experience will strengthen our back line as we aim to qualify for the playoffs for the third consecutive season.

With veteran Erik Sviatchenko out injured, Antônio Carlos is now part of the Dynamo’s defensive lineup, playing alongside key players Pablo Ortiz and Ethan Bartlow. In the Western Conference, the Houston Dynamo are 11th, holding 27 points from 7 wins, 11 losses, and 6 draws.
Under head coach Ben Olsen, they are within striking distance of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, only three points behind, as they seek to qualify for the third year in a row.
