After plenty of talks and reports, it is now looking like a reality as former Italian League champions, Napoli are set to appoint a new manager, a signal of their intentions to be back amongst the top clubs in the League, and possibly targeting the Scudetto, given the track record of their new coach.

More Details

Antonio Conte is set to be unveiled as the new Napoli coach on Monday morning next week, after the club agreed all personal terms for the contract, including image rights. The final details were resolved today, as confirmed by Sportitalia, Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Italia.

The contract will run to June 2027 and includes the image rights, which are always a complicated part of any negotiations with President Aurelio De Laurentiis. According to reports, he will be unveiled as the new coach at the prestigious San Carlo theatre in the city of Naples.

Despite rumours over the last few days, there is to be no release clause in the deal allowing the coach to leave after just one year at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Perhaps, the club President took a cue from the recent scenario that played out at Bologna, whose manager, Thiago Motta decided to leave the club after taking them to the UEFA Champions League, but the Rossoblu were powerless to stop him as his contract had already expired.

He’s now set to join Juventus, which will definitely give the Scudetto race for next season a new dimension. Napoli, on their part called on Conte to start a new era at the club after going through three different tacticians in the post-Scudetto season. His staff will include director Lele Oriali, assistants Cristian Stellini, Coratti, Elvis Abbruscato and Gianluca Conte.

De Laurentiis had tried to lure Gian Piero Gasperini from Atalanta, but the recent winner of the Europa League decided to continue with the La Dea instead. The former Juventus and Inter coach coach in turn wanted a return to his home country to be closer to his family after the Tottenham Hotspur experience, and he’s set to become the highest paid coach in the Serie A.

Juventus remains keen on securing a move for Albert Gudmundsson as the Genoa star garners attention from several clubs across Europe. He has been one of the standout attackers in Serie A this season, catching the eye of Juventus with his performances. As Juventus embarks on a new era, they are considering making a move for him this summer.

However, Inter Milan and Napoli are also interested in adding him to their squads. Currently, Napoli appears to be his most serious suitor, and they are eager to prevent him from joining another club. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Napoli is exploring the possibility of including Leo Skiri Østigård in their offer to further reduce Gudmundsson’s €35 million asking price.

This could potentially align with Genoa’s interests, as they seem keen on securing Ostigard’s services. They will also be banking on the arrival of Conte to convince the player, but after failing to qualify for Europe next season, that could work to their disadvantage as the likes of Inter and Juve would be able to offer him UCL football.
