The financial situation at the club is well publicized, hence one can be forgiven for given the club little chance of competing with the European heavyweights for the signing of one of the most sought after player in the world.

Haaland, who has been very impressive for the German side is widely expected to join one of the bigger teams in European Football with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester City all vying for his signature and Barcelona not having the financial muscle of the rest.

But according to Barca chief Laporta, the Blaugrana are on their way back to being big spenders, and he has far from ruled out a move for Haaland. “Haaland? Our obligation is to build a great team,” Laporta was quoted by Sport.

“Anything is possible if we do well. And I am sure we will do well.” “Very soon we will see the sporting resurgence of Barça.”

As things stand, Barcelona would have no chance of registering Haaland given the huge wages he is likely to command, but a lot can change in six months when his €75million release clause comes into play, and that makes Haaland very much affordable for many of Europe’s big clubs, Barcelona inclusive if they can get their finances in order by then.

Meanwhile…

Barcelona are expected to complete the signing of Spanish striker z Alvaro Morata on a loan move from fellow Spanish sidez Atletico Madrid. Morata, who is currently on loan with Italian side, Juventus from Atletico, but he has recently expressed a wish to return to Spain, with six months remaining on his 18 month loan deal.

While it will be difficult for Barcelona to be able to pay for the striker given their finances, the fact that Antoine Griezmann is on loan at Atletico from Barcelona should help smoothen the deal.

Griezmann has already featured regularly, and Atleti have seen enough to assure Barca they will activate the €40million option to buy. That will give Barca the margin to sign Morata on loan, striking an agreement with Juventus to take over the loan.

The deal is now almost complete and it is likely to be all wrapped up in the first half of this week with an announcement expected to follow suit but it’s yet to be seen when he will be eligible to play for the Blaugrana yet.
