Written By Onyeka Daniel

For the last few days, it has been well reported by several sources that AC Milan is the leading candidate for the signature of Bologna striker, Joshua Zirkzee, but the Rossoneri might find themselves missing out if the latest reports are to be believed.

More Details

After it was recently reported that EPL clubs, Arsenal and Manchester United have actively joined the race, because their primary target, Benjamin Sesko has decided to renew with RB Leipzig, the race has just gotten more fierce with a new competitor.

A report from Sportitalia warn there is another potential challenger to Milan for the Dutch striker, as Juventus are close to the Bologna striker’s agent. The Bianconeri had been linked with Zirkzee several weeks ago and seemed to lose interest in him.

This allowed Milan to surge ahead and multiple sources report they have agreed personal terms with the Dutchman, while there is a €40m release clause in his contract with Bologna. The only sticking point remains the €15m commission demanded by agent Kia Joorabchian, something Milan are not prepared to pay out of principle.

This had allowed Arsenal and Manchester United back in, but Milan could now have an even more worrying contender in the hunt for the Dutch striker. That is Juventus, as Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà warns that Juve director Cristiano Giuntoli is very close to agent Joorabchian, who also represents Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

With ex-Bologna coach Thiago Motta taking over at Juve, that is another reason why Zirkzee might be tempted to go to Turin instead. Juventus interest in the Brazilian midfielder is well known and they could look to conclude the deal for him and Zirkzee with the Super agent.

Plus they also have the advantage of Motta, he might probably help put in a good word for the Bianconeri about a summer move. They’re not planning to stop there either. According to a separate report, Juventus also have their eye on Mason Greenwood.

Manchester United will certainly sell the controversial winger, who was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour before charges were later dropped last year. He had a stellar season with Getafe in the just concluded season, and Giuntoli believes he will be the ideal fit for Motta’s 4-3-3 system in Turin.

In another worrying development, according to a report from Sport, if Alphonso Davies does not leave Bayern Munich, then Milan left-back Theo Hernandez could return to Real Madrid.

It has been believed for months that Davies is heading towards Real Madrid with a contract in Germany that is due to expire in June 2025. However, the situation is changing and there are now suggestions the Canada international could even extend his current deal with Bayern Munich.

If that does happen, it will have a double knock-on effect, because Bayern Munich had been targeting Theo Hernandez to replace Davies. The Los Blancos will now need to look elsewhere for a left-back and could do worse than ask after Theo Hernandez.

After all, they sold him to Milan for €22.8m in the summer of 2019 and is under contract at San Siro until June 2026.While there had been reports he was not willing to push Milan for an exit to join Bayern Munich, he might think differently about Real Madrid, the club he joined in 2017.
