The 19 year old Scottish international has had a sensational season so far attracting interest from several big clubs both in Italy and abroad.

The former Heart of Midlothian player joined Bologna in 2020 from the Scottish club after rejecting Bayern Munich’s proposal due to assurances of first team football at the Italian club.

Hickey was limited in his debut season by injuries but has been a revelation for the Rosssoblu this season where he has scored five goals in Serie A.

AC Milan and Napoli were reported to have shown interest in his services plus a host of other clubs from abroad but it is Arsenal according to CalcioMercato that has won the race for his signature.

The Gunners have now found an agreement with Bologna whose president travelled to London last week to hold talks with the club.

Hickey recently said of his fine form during an interview. “I’m proud. I didn’t expect it to go as well as it has done. I expected to just try and come here and break into the first team, get appearances.”

Arsenal may have finally sort their left back dilemma with this signing as Nuno Tavares who arrived last summer has failed to live up to expectations while Kieran Tierney spends more time on the treatment table than he does on the pitch.

Meanwhile…

Nicolas Pepe could be in his way out of the Emirates after the Ivorian announced on Instagram that he has changed his agent.

The left footed attacker has struggled to replicate the form that made Arsenal cough out a staggering £72m for his services back in 2019 from French club Lille.

Pepe has only been able to score a paltry 27 goals in 110 appearances over three seasons in North London and is seemingly not in coach Mikel Arteta’s plans for the future.

He wrote on Instagram: “I’m beyond happy to announce that I’m joining the @lf360.official , that will be managing my career from now on. I fully trust in Luis Ferrer and his team to help me doing the right choices, and get to new summits and challenges in the best possible way.

“My family and I are really looking forward to what’s next, and I’m more motivated than ever to pursue my goals for the end of the season and the year to come. Thanks for your support. NP19.”

Arsenal currently vying with Tottenham Hotspur for the last Champions League spot, a position that’ll determine the Gunners transfer operations in the summer.
