Martin Zubimendi is a man in demand and rightfully so because of his technical abilities and ball playing prowess, the Real Sociedad midfield ace remains a prime target for Liverpool who thought they got a deal over the line during the summer until the player decided to stay put with the club. The latest development has seen Arsenal take a shocking lead for his signature amidst interest from Real Madrid albeit they have to wait until the summer but Mikel Arteta’s side are optimistic that they will win the race for his signature.

More Details

Real Sociedad are braced up for the tug of war involving Martin Zubimendi and are open to the idea of his departure only on their price valuation which Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid who see him as Toni Kroos’ successor are willing to pay.

Football London reports that Arsenal are increasingly confident about triggering the €51 million release clause in Martin Zubimendi’s contract with Real Sociedad. Despite Liverpool’s unsuccessful attempts to sign him last summer and their own failed January bids, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains undeterred.

Not just Zubmendi, Arsenal also has their sights on Nico Williams as part Arteta’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Arsenal’s forward line. The Spanish international’s contract with the Bilbao-based club still includes a €58 million release clause but reports indicate that Arsenal are close to finalizing a deal that would see them pay more than the stipulated clause in the summer.

This approach would allow the Gunners to negotiate more favorable payment terms, structuring the transfer fee over the length of Williams’s prospective contract rather than paying the full amount upfront.

Real Sociedad, like their Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao, are expected to demand the full buyout amount. However, Arsenal appear well-positioned to meet this demand. With significant wages set to come off their books this summer, they have the financial capacity.

Furthermore, there are indications that Arsenal has already reached an agreement with Zubimendi’s representatives, paving the way for his transfer. Potentially, Arsenal have two great deals to pull off in the summer much to the excitement of the fans.
