Arsenal Fan Apologises To Mikel Arteta After Watching Wolves Comeback

Written By Jacobs Dunga

Arsenal’s comeback win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night did not just propel them to within just a point of fourth placed Manchester United but it did triggered an apology from a fan.

An Arsenal fan by the name Richard has phoned in on talkSPORT’s Thursday night’s Sports Bar to commend Arteta for Arsenal’s win and apologize for comments made about the Gunners boss earlier in the season.

Late goals Nicolas Pepe and skipper Alexandre Lacazette were all Arsenal needed in a comeback win over Wolves on Thursday night.

“We were awful [at the start of the season], we were bottom,” Rich explained on Thursday night’s Sports Bar.

“But I would say, with what’s going on there, look at the natural progression of Arsenal, the young players are coming through, his selection.

“I didn’t agree with him buying [Martin] Odegaard, but he’s turning Odegaard into a good player, I didn’t agree with him buying that goalkeeper [Aaron Ramsdale]…”

Sports Bar host Jason Cundy then interjected: “Have you phoned up to apologise, Rich? Do you want to say sorry now?”

“I was wrong and we can get fourth,” Rich admitted. “I was wrong, I can admit I was wrong.”

After some more persuasion from Cundy and fellow host and ex-Tottenham man Jamie O’Hara, Rich then made the full apology.

“If you’re listening Mr. Arteta, I was very wrong about you,” he said.

“If I’d have had my way, you’d be back with Pep Guardiola [as his assistant at Man City] where I thought you belonged!

“I hated your team selection, I hated that you drove out some of players you did, but I was wrong about you and I’m sorry.”

“Well done Rich, do you feel better?” Cundy asked.

“No,” he laughed. “But you do!”

Arteta has transformed Arsenal from their early season woes into real top four contenders and now have their own fate in their hands.

Darren Bent has made claims that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will most likely not make the next England squad on current form.

The pacy attacker has been a shadow of his former self this season and initially struggled with a shoulder problem before returning to action, he has found it hard to return to his old scoring form or cement a regular playing time under Ralf Rangnick.

Rashford had another disappointing night in the Champions League as he had little or no impact in United’s one all draw away to Atletico. He was eventually hauled off in the 75th minute and Bent presumes his England place is at risk.

“He just doesn’t look happy, that’s the biggest thing” Bent told Drive.

“When he scored the goal against West Ham, they all came together, he was smiling and you thought that’s more like it, he’s back.

“But he just doesn’t look like he’s enjoying his football right now.

“Whether that’s because of the position he’s playing in the team, being at Manchester United football club, you just don’t know.

“At the minute, he’s not in the England squad. He’s not playing well enough.”
