The 21-years old has now come out to defend his inclusion, saying even if he’s relatively unknown in his homeland, he knows what he’s doing at Arsenal:

“I think this is normal. Some people in Brazil don’t know me and it’s also normal to say that other players deserved to be there [the squad]. But I’m pretty cool about it. I think this is normal,” Gabriel Martinelli told ESPN Brasil.

“I know what I’m doing at my club, I know my ability and I know what I can do. And you can be sure that I will do my best for the Brazilian team, in whatever I can help the team I will help. It will be a great experience for me.”

“Everyone was very happy for us to be in the World Cup,” Martinelli added. “It’s good for Arsenal, too, to have players in the World Cup. And everyone was very happy, we are a very united team.

“Today, there was also the call-up of Bukayo, Aaron, Ben, so we are happy for each other. We know that we are at the top of the Premier League, but this is just the beginning, and that we still have a lot of work to do.”

While two Brazilians in the Arsenal team made the list (Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli), another one managed to miss out, Gabriel, who plays in defense and has been very influential for the Gunners at both end of the pitch this season as they maintain their top spot going into the World Cup break after this weekend’s round of games.

Meanwhile…

After it was reported that Liverpool owners are looking to sell the club, Fenway Sports Group may be seeking for investors instead, rather than an outright sales if the words from their coach is to be believed.

“You are just speculating. The statement was clear. It’s nothing new for a club to try to find new investors.” Liverpool assistant coach, Pep Lijnders replied to question on the club’s possible sales before their game against Derby. After, it was the turn of Jurgen Klopp to further confirm the narrative after the game against Derby;

“First and foremost Chelsea got sold, that’s how I understand it. [FSG] are looking for investors. The situation is completely different.” At this point, it’s safe to say that the club may be having a change of heart over an outright sales, instead, they may be on the lookout for a partnership that can probably takeover fully in the nearest future.
