Arsenal Keeping Tabs On Portuguese Midfielder

Story by Jacobs Dunga

Fabrizio Romano suggested on the Don Robbie Youtube channel that Arsenal’s Ruben Neves interest could come alive in August when the Gunners might have explored other options.

Neves is a Portuguese midfielder who plays for English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers and has been on the radar of Arsenal for some time now. The 24-year-old joined Wolves in 2017 from FC Porto and has since become one of the Premier League’s most consistent midfielders since helping the Molineux outfit secure promotion to the topflight the following season. His ability to score from long-range shots and high level of work rate are his biggest assets while possessing a good passing skill as well.

Romano did explain he isn’t Arsenal’s priority that the North London Club will only swoop if they fail to land other targets come August.

“I continue saying that he’s in the list for Arsenal. Also because the Locatelli deal is getting more complicated,” he said.

“So he’s on the list for Arsenal, but he’s not the main option as of today. We have to consider him as an opportunity maybe in August.

“There is nothing imminent, but it is something to keep in eye on August for both clubs [United and Arsenal].

“He is not the main option so they are not negotiating now, to sign him immediately, but he could become an option in August.

“It’s something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks, as there are chances for him to leave the club, but he’s not sure yet.”

Neves has scored 20 goals in 176 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers and would add goals to the Arsenal midfield if the transfer pulled through.
