Real Betis are now said to be concerned that Arsenal could return as Rodriguez heads towards the final year of a contract that expires in 2024 and they could be forced to accept any decent offer that arrives for him next summer.
Betis reportedly want ‘at least €30 million for the player and the Gunners are desperately in need of a quality defensive midfielder with the name of Rodriguez among their possible target.
With Granit Xhaka not getting any younger while Thomas Partey has struggled with injuries this season, Mikel Arteta wants another top player in that position to help the team’s quality and also for rotational purposes.
Rodriguez, who will turn 29-years in April next year has been on a steady rise for both club and country and could attract more interest, especially if he’s able to make a good show of himself with Argentina at the World Cup billed to hold in Qatar later this year. He already has 25 caps for the national team.
