Arsenal Set To ‘Test The Water’ By Making A £60m Bid For Sporting Lisbon Star

Arsenal are about to step up its pursuit of a new striker once again and offer £60 million for one of the best forwards in European football.

Benjamin Sesko’s decision to sign a new contract and pledge his short-term future to RB Leipzig gave Arsenal an early blow, since they had planned to sign a new No. 9 at the beginning of the transfer window.

After it was determined that players like Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak were beyond their means, the north London giants turned their focus to acquiring a flexible winger who could rival and cover for Bukayo Saka.

In that regard, Nico Williams, the Euro 2024 hero from Spain, has emerged as Arsenal’s top target; nonetheless, he is adamant about moving from Athletic Bilbao to Barcelona.

Arsenal are prepared to test the waters and entice Sporting Lisbon with a bid of between £55 million and £60 million for Victor Gyokeres, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese team will still insist on receiving the full £86 million release clause for the Sweden international because they think they can start a bidding battle.

Sporting’s faith is well-founded, as the former Coventry City star scored an incredible 43 goals in 50 appearances during the previous season.

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old, but the Merseyside club is unlikely to submit a bid at this point in the transfer window. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be keeping an eye on the player’s circumstances.
