Both announcements were made on Monday in advance of the 16-team competition by Conmebol, the organization that organizes soccer in South America. Games at the World Cup of 2026, which the US, Canada, and Mexico are co-hosting, will take place at both locations.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium can hold up to 71,000 spectators for the opening game and has seen some of the biggest attendance for a single game in Major League Soccer history.

If reigning champions Argentina make it so far, Lionel Messi of Inter Miami CF might have a “home” game at Hard Rock Stadium, the NFL’s home stadium of the Miami Dolphins. Hard Rock Stadium can hold more than 65,300 supporters.

The ten South American teams automatically qualify for the Copa América of 2024. Six Concacaf qualifiers—two teams from the quarterfinal loser last-chance games and the four Nations League quarterfinal winners—will join them.

“We expect stadiums filled with the passion of the entire American continent for the inauguration and final of an unforgettable Conmebol Copa América,” Conmebol president Alejandro Domínguez said in a release.

We are now seeing the development of Inter Miami, which will be a power in the league at the start of the next season.

Inter Miami CF’s head coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, has declared that the Club is once again interested in bringing in former teammate Luis Suárez during the upcoming winter transfer window.

Martino stated that the team is still interested in signing the 36-year-old Uruguayan during a press conference the day before Miami’s final MLS home game, which ended in a 2-2 draw with Charlotte FC.
