Los Rojiblancos are expected to bolster their midfield options in the coming months, as manager Diego Simeone prepares for life without Saul Niguez next season.
In August, the Spanish international joined Premier League heavyweights Chelsea on a season-long loan, with Chelsea holding a buy option on him.
After falling down the pecking order in the Spanish capital, Simeone is willing to trade the Elche-born schemer if Chelsea does not make the transaction permanent.
Brozovic has emerged as a possible possibility, according to Mundo Deportivo, after declining the chance to extend his contract at the San Siro beyond next summer.
Brozovic has requested his agency to look into other options outside of Italian football in 2022 after the Italian champions reportedly denied his €6 million annual wage demands.

Savic has not trained since, according to Mundo Deportivo, and he is unlikely to return in time for the La Real match.
