By finishing first in their Champions League group ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica stunned Europe, and midfielder Enzo Fernandez played a major role in that accomplishment.
The 21-year-old has drawn attention for his strong performances ever since leaving River Plate this summer, and the Argentina World Cup roster is expected to include him.
According to multiple reports from Fichajes.net, Atléti are planning to make a sizable bid for him next summer and will also negotiate a sizable deal. Next summer, he would be their top acquisition.
In addition, they claim that Fernandez has been mentioned this year by Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid.
If that were the case, Premier League teams would raise the price past Atletico Madrid’s means.
Los Colchoneros would have to rely on convincing Fernandez that joining Atléti would be the greatest decision for his career rather than taking part in an auction.

Atlético Madrid captain Koke is ahead in the battle to be healthy for the 2022 World Cup.
On October 15, the 30-year-old was forced off before Los Rojiblancos’ 1-0 La Liga victory at Athletic Club.
The club verified the Spanish international’s thigh muscle injury after first medical evaluation, and he has been out since.
Koke has missed six games in that stretch for Diego Simeone’s team in all competitions due to their Champions League exit at the group round.
