To avoid a repeat of such performance, the club are eyeing a number of targets that they believe will improve the quality of the team and make them competitive once again.
After losing Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window, they have struggled to fill that position and now they’re ready to make a major signing for that position. Udinese defender, Manuel Molina is the target and the fact that he can play on the right side in a 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 formation is a huge plus for the team.
Also, he’s Argentine, just like their coach, hence their won’t be much problem in convincing the player to agree to a move but the major stumbling block is his price tag, currently set at €30 million.
Another player that is being linked with a move to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium is Monaco defender, Axel Disasi, who is also attracting the interest of English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old centre-back has a contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2025 and is one of the team’s captains.
He played 45 times for Monaco last season notching three goals. Spurs have been following his development for the last two years and with Daniel Levy finally ready to hand Antonio Conte a significant transfer budget, that could end Atlético’s interest before it really begins.
Valencia midfielder, Carlos Soler is also another name being linked with the Los Rojiblancos. The player is said to be the one that has been chosen by Valencia to be sacrificed in order to help the club.
Diego Simeone is pushing the club towards the Barcelona target as he believes that Soler will be able to bring the creativity that has been missing in his team for a while now.
Meanwhile…
Atletico, just like most European clubs is also struggling with their finances, hence they really need to make some sacrifices before they can move to sign their transfer targets.

Top on the list is French midfielder, Thomas Lemar, who recently rejected the contract renewal offer from the club. Another name is is being mentioned is Angel Correa.
His possible sales will be due to the amount he can generate for the club rather than his abilities as he was one of their top performers in the just concluded season. Centre-back, Mario Hermoso is also on the list and Belgium winger, Yannick Carrasco.
