Atletico Madrid is planning an initial loan move which is likely to be made permanent with a £20 million purchase clause for Matt O’Riley of Celtic but they will be up against competition from Premier League rivals for the young Celtic midfielder who is a prime transfer target for the Spanish team as they are somewhat in pole position to get the deal done in the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid is willing to pay £20 million to sign Matt O’Riley from Celtic and the Spanish powerhouses are hoping to sign the Parkhead midfielder on loan this month but they are limited by Financial Fair Play regulations and must make a summer purchase.
However as first called by Mail Sport is aware that teams in the English Premier League are getting ready to start a bidding war for the Danish international during the last week of the window.
The 23-year-old O’Riley is impressed by Diego Simeone’s interest, but he isn’t going to push for a forceful exit away from the club and Celtic don’t want to lose the player who has been their best performance so far this year, especially when they have a little window of time to find a replacement before the end of January.
