For EPL side, Wolverhampton wanderers, they’re set to complete their first signing of the winter transfer window after it was revealed that Atletico Madrid striker, Mattheus Cunha is already having medicals with the club ahead of a move.

On the urging of their coach, Julien Lopetegui, the club have been in negotiations for the player and it seems like they have found a breakthrough, with reports that a deal to take the player on loan with an obligation to sign him for about €40 million later in the summer in place.
Cunha signed for Atletico in August 2021 but is expected to leave after just 15 months with the LaLiga giants given his struggles to cement a place in Dieogo Simeone’s team.
Wolves faced of competitions from Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton for the Brazilian after initiating talks at the end of last month.
The club aren’t expected to stop there in their quest to strengthen the club as they aim to beat the drop to the lower division as they’re currently last on the EPL table, 4 points behind Everton who occupy the 17th that guarantees safety at the end of the season.
There has also been talks about a deal for another Atletico defender, Felipe and have asked Manchester United about a loan deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but face competition from Crystal Palace and West Ham for the right-back.

But according to the report, while Emery highly values the player and believes he would be a huge upgrade on the players currently available to him at the Villa park, a move in January will be very difficult.
Instead, it might happen later in the summer and by then, the interest in the player may have tripled, depending on how he performs in the second half of the season for the Yellow Submarines.
