It looks like the row between Serie A defending champions, Napoli and the media is not ending any time soon after another incident recently. The Italian Lega Serie A had levied a hefty fine of €100,000 against Napoli after club president Aurelio De Laurentiis staged a protest against broadcaster DAZN.

More Details

The incident occurred just before Napoli’s clash with Juventus on March 3, when De Laurentiis was incensed to find a DAZN cameraman in the tunnel. His outburst, which included expletives, was followed by the revelation that the cameraman was actually a member of Napoli’s staff.

De Laurentiis’ frustration extended to the rescheduling of Napoli’s Serie A fixture against Atalanta, which was moved to March 1 from its original date of April 1, a decision he attributed to DAZN.

Consequently, he imposed a ban on Napoli’s communication with the Italian broadcaster. According to reports from Corriere della Sera, DAZN lodged a formal complaint against De Laurentiis and Napoli shortly after the incident, submitting a letter to Lega Serie A.

Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo emphasized the contractual obligations between clubs and DAZN, underscoring that any breaches of these agreements would face consequences.

Additionally, Lazio received a €10,000 fine in connection with the same incident, but it looks like things are far from over yet. De Laurentiis burst into Matteo Politano’s pre-match interview ahead of his side’s clash against Barcelona.

According to a report by TMW, Politano’s pre-match interview with Sky Italia was cut short as De Laurentiis interrupted and took his player away before the conference concluded. Politano had just finished talking about recovering from personal injuries when De Laurentiis said: “He can’t talk to you….” To end the interview abruptly.

Aurelio De Laurentiis’ controversies with the media have now taken the European stage after looming around in Serie A. Napoli face Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Both teams settled for a 1-1 draw in Naples and it’s bound to be an open game in the second leg.

Meanwhile…

Roma were left anxious after Paulo Dybala asked to be substituted in their draw with Fiorentina, but the Argentine star is now expected to face Brighton later this week.

The 30-year-old Argentinian forward, who has already missed six Serie A matches this term through minor injuries, asked coach Daniele De Rossi to take him off in the 73rd minute of their away clash with Fiorentina on Sunday evening, feeling muscle pain.
